Ralph Green is a descendant of several Confederate veterans. Born in Dallas, Texas, he graduated from SMU after his service in the U.S. Army Air Force in WWII. Retired from Electronic Data Systems, he is highly active in adding to our understanding of the history of the War Between the States. He is a founding member of the Descendants of Confederate Veterans, as well as a past commander in chief of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He has received many awards and honors, including the Jefferson Davis Chalice, the SCV's highest honor. He is president of the board of advisers for the Texas Heritage Museum at Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas. In addition, he is the editor of the Rebel Rouser, an award-winning newsletter, where he has published many of the stories in this collection.
